INGLATERRA HOUSE

LOCATION BUILT AREA YEAR
Sao Paulo, Brazil
870 m²
2000

This house was built in São Paulo for a young family – a couple and two kids.

Their wish for some sound of flowing water in the house had us to place a pool – filled with white pebbles of various sizes – right in the entrance patio.

From the street door, a long corridor takes to this bright open space where wide landings border the pool and lead up to the main door.

The diversity of surface materials is surely an important feature here. It has to be said though, that just as important as stone, wood or rough stucco is the disclosing of the house through a succession of unexpected spaces.

In the upper floor hallway, for example, a translucent ceiling allows for a nice ever-changing light effect on the white-sandstone-strip-covered wall, causing it to reflect different colors throughout the day.
