Found on the 3rd floor of the Urban Plaza building in Bogotá, the space of Juana La Loca restaurant is arranged in the following sequence of rooms: hall, bar, show kitchen, dining rooms and terrace. Each of those spaces features its own lighting, materials, and dimensions.
After traversing the metal-clad hall, patrons enter the restaurant’s bar, where the central counter made of pale stone stands in vivid contrast against the dark wood pervading the room.
The show kitchen, the main space in the restaurant, connects the bar to the dining rooms. It is a long stainless-steel hallway where patrons may watch the preparation of dishes and drinks on the counters.
In the two dining rooms that follow, wooden panels overlaying the building windows dim the external natural light and lend rhythm to the rooms.
The terrace, the final area of the restaurant, is covered by a metal-and-glass pergola and surrounded by an expansive garden. The terrace affords patrons views of Carrera 11, an important avenue in the city.
