B Hotel is located in the Northern Hotel Sector at the centre of Brasília, directly at the “Eixo Monumental”, the large avenue, where important government buildings, monuments and memorials are located. The lot marks the border between high rise hotels and a lower built area, less dense with a lot of green.

It’s a business hotel aiming at guests visiting Brasil capital, mainly during the week, to attend events and meetings at government agencies, embassies or local companies.

Local regulations define maximum high and building outlines and determine that its massing “mirrors” the immediate neighbor – the Mercure Hotel: the project is composed of a wide 15mx60m rectangular prism, 55m high, and a 60mx60m with 6m hight horizontal base at second floor that touches the neighbour and floats above the pilotis at ground floor.

Here, the reception lobby, bar and restaurant integrated, creating an inviting lively atmosphere, allowing for people interaction.

At the second floor, events space for business or parties with ballroom and smaller meeting rooms, that can be accessed through the hotel lobby or independently, through a separate entrance from the pilotis.

In the underground levels there are a fitness, BOH, storage, utility rooms and parking.

The tall building comprises hotel rooms and suites distributed in 15 floors, as well as bar and pool at the rooftop. It takes advantage of a permitted cantilever 2m from each side of the building line at 70% of the façade, so that each room 2×2 windows is placed at the original line, therefore being recessed 2m from the cantilevered outer skin. The windows positions are different in each room: either they are at floor height of above a parapet; either they are near the headboard or in the centre of the wall.

The result is a simple volume, well inserted in the typical formal language of Brasilia, with the irregularly positioned windows giving personality to the façade: the shadows created by the profound windows give the building a very dynamic character, which is the hotel’s identity.
